Job Description :
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DDH) Teacher to join our educational team in Oakland, CA.
In this role, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them to achieve their academic and personal goals.
You will work closely with students, families, and school staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects and communication skills, using appropriate methods and technologies.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure effective accommodations and modifications are in place.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and assistive technologies to support students' learning and communication.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Provide support and resources to students and their families, helping them navigate educational and community services.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational goals and objectives.
Requirements :
- Bachelors degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Valid California teaching credential with an endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication methods
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families
