Role
A classroom teacher at Thornbury High School is responsible for designing and delivering an educational program for their students which is consistent with the aims and objectives of the School and the Department of Education.
We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and adaptable Science and Digital Technologies teacher to join our team. The successful applicant will work collaboratively and, with the Science / Digital Technologies KLA, use their deep understanding of scientific concepts and emerging technologies to inspire student learning, and connect the learning with real world applications.
VCE Physics / Chemistry methods are desirable but not essential.
Position responsibilities :
The role of the classroom teacher may include but is not limited to :
- Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;
- Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;
Creating a calm, positive environment that is conducive to students learning, in line with the school s student well-being and engagement policies and processes
Assessing the educational development of students, compiling and maintaining records of that development and providing reports to parents / guardians
- Being actively involved in the school s professional learning program, including professional learning communities (PLC);
- Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;
- Participating in activities such as parent / teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;
Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.
