THE Role

Software Engineering Manager

We are looking for an IT professional with the experience and drive to help us navigate our business growth in a leadership capacity.

With 20% year of year growth last year and 20% growth this year as well, we are having a great run. With that growth comes the need for technology leadership and participation that can keep our efforts exciting, managed and productive while handling the challenges that come with rapid growth.

This is an in-person position as we value collaboration with a mix of some work from home.

The person in this position will :

• Build a high performing software engineering team using Agile methodologies and practices
• Partner with product stakeholders to prioritize, communicate and execute on a product deliver roadmap
• Mentor and coach software engineers to support their ongoing learning and career growth
• Lead technology selection and design decisions focusing on total cost of ownership and long-term value for affected solutions
• Get hands on with less experienced developers for guidance and direction.
• Jump in from time to time in development for prototyping, evaluation or product delivery.
• Work with the president openly to give valued feedback and direction for future growth.

Competencies that will help in this role :

• Previous experience in IT as a software developer / engineer.
• Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Comfortable creating and managing deadlines.
• Experience with modern web development tools such as React, Angular, Typescript, HTML, CSS and responsive web design
• Familiarity with modern frontend development tools such as esbuild, vite, rollup
• Experience building and supporting applications across variety of software platforms and architectures across, desktop, web and mobile
• Bonus for experience with .NET framework WinForms development
• Hands-on experience coaching teams to adopt modern engineering practices such as CICD, TDD, feature flags, and pair programming
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
