Summary

Evelyn Street Day School, located in Paramus, is seeking to hire two part time and full time, year round co-

teacher and assistant for the infant group (6 weeks to age 1) at least 6 months day care experience

Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :

When you join our team as a Assistant Teacher you will be expected to :

  • Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn
  • Work with students and teachers to provide an optimal learning environment.
  • Offer aid to children when needed.
  • Execute lesson plans and activities to reflect ESDS curriculum
  • Facilitate individual and small group work so that students can enjoy a more specialized learning

experience.

Maintain the health and well-being of the children under your supervision (cleaning, meal

preparation and dealing with minor injuries)

Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community

contacts, and corporate partners

  • Work with children to improve both their academic and social skills
  • Partner with parents with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for their children
  • Support our center’s success by partnering with center staff and leadership to achieve goals

around enrollment, accreditation, and engagement

Monitor duties to ensure that student injuries are avoided and equipment is not damaged or used

improperly.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience :

A candidate with a current CDA is preferred but will accept at least one full year experience in the

infant teacher position.

  • A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day
  • Ability to build relationships with families and coworkers and create a dynamic environment where

play and discovery go hand-in-hand

  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Must meet state specific guidelines for the role
  • Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors.
  • Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children,

see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.

Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
