Your Role in the Community

  • Performing thorough patient assessments, ordering necessary diagnostic tests, and creating tailored care plans
  • Diagnosing and managing acute, episodic, or chronic health issues collaboratively with physicians or independently (based on your qualifications)
  • Empowering patients and their families with information on prevention, wellness, and chronic disease management
  • Prescribing medications and therapies within your scope of practice
  • Engaging in patient follow-up and overseeing chronic care management
  • Coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, holistic patient care
  • Accurately documenting all patient interactions within electronic medical records (EMR)

Qualifications Needed

  • A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Essential Certifications

  • Active Nurse Practitioner licensure in Iowa
  • National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP or ANCC) or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications or the ability to obtain them within 90 days
