This role is a part of the Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to the In-Space Systems business unit on design, build and maintenance of the operations training systems and products across the full Blue Ring program lifecycle.

This position will work with the In-Space Systems Mission Element Director.

As a Senior Manager for Operations Training, you will work closely with an accomplished team of Ground System, Software, Mission Systems and Flight Operations Engineers, leading and performing flight and operations development tasks & training supporting throughout the full system lifecycle.

You will be responsible for building and managing strategic technical capabilities crucial to the operation of spacecraft with diverse concepts of operation.

This team is comprised of experts in the following subject areas - Flight Operations training curriculum design, including specialty course material development, training delivery, simulation scenario development and exercise facilitation, performing assessments and certifying trainees, designing, and performing simulation campaigns to confirm mission team readiness.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Directly manage a team of 5-15 team members skilled in the disciplines of training, mission systems and ground data systems
  • Lead a growing team of training engineers and simulator developers to build a high-quality training and certification program for on-console personnel.
  • Evaluate flight controller and on-console crew proficiency and currency for mission operations.
  • Deliver training plans, standards, simulator hardware and other training tools on time and on budget.
  • Lead a team to develop a technical curriculum that includes various modalities such as eLearning, on-the-job training, hands-on training with hardware-in-the-loop, classroom and virtual training, and vehicle simulators.
  • Set priorities and establish schedules for the development and execution of mission operations training activities.
  • Develop and manage the people, processes, and tools essential for best-in-class performance in these subject domains.
  • Cultivate an evolving, rightsized workforce; oversee performance, merits, and promotions; shepherd team members' careers through coaching, opportunity matching, and technical development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in a relevant field - such as engineering, instructional design, education, or communication
  • 2+ years of experience managing technical teams and / or leading functional groups, with responsibility for technical quality of work delivered, and career management of employees.
  • 10+ years of experience in defining, developing, validating, and performing technical training for engineers working in a high technology operational environment.
  • Experience writing technical training course materials (lesson objectives and plans, evaluation criteria, hands-on training activities)
  • Experience authoring training plans, maintenance and operations manuals, and other technical documents
  • Proficient systems engineering experience - such as requirements development and execution of verification and validation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.

S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with tracking, scheduling, and reporting training status using a Training Management System
  • First principles knowledge of all major spacecraft subsystems
  • Experience training and developing operations personnel.
  • Experience using spacecraft computer simulations for training.
  • Experience with robotic space missions
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and other project management software tools

Compensation range for on site CO applicants is $99,330-$139,062

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $108,360-$151,704

Compensation range for on site CA applicants is $108,360-$151,704

Other site ranges may differ

Paid Time Off : Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
