Halff has an immediate opening for a Project Accountant Manager in our Richardson, TX office.
Job Summary :
The Project Accounting Manager will oversee the financial activities of all projects at Halff. This role requires a strategic mindset and extensive experience in project accounting, financial management, and team leadership.
The PA Manager will work directly with a group of mid-level project accountants and project accounting leads, maintaining strong, servant relationships with all PAs.
This role will partner with project managers, senior leadership, and the accounting team to ensure the financial success of our projects.

Work is primarily independent with occasional guidance under Controller.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Develop analytic framework to implement financial strategies for project accounting organization, ensuring alignment with the company's overall financial goals and objectives.
- Actively participate workshare and utilization analysis to partner with operations and optimize project profitability.
- Lead and create a servant culture for the project accounting team, and provide guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with projects and key clients, implementing controls and procedures to safeguard the company's financial interests.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance project accounting processes and systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Manage the preparation of project financial reports to support PBC audit and FAR audit.
- Work closely with project managers, and all stakeholders to provide financial insights and support for project decision-making.
- Monitor, interpret, and analyze team data metrics, overseeing the allocation of resources across projects, ensuring optimal utilization and financial performance.
- Monitor, interpret, and analyze project and client financial performance, providing regular updates and recommendations to Accounting Leadership.
- Develop and implement training programs for the project accounting team to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks as assigned by management.
Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in project accounting, with at least 7 years in a leadership role, preferably in the engineering or construction industry.
- Extensive experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to care, inspire and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements : (Minimum qualifications)
- Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
