Overview
Executive Underwriter, Middle Market Life Sciences at Liberty Mutual Insurance. Role focused on building a dedicated Life Sciences Underwriting team within the Middle Market to deliver integrated multi-line Property and Liability insurance solutions for mid-sized Life Sciences companies.
Responsibilities
- New Business underwriting for profitable growth. Review, evaluate, and underwrite submissions; rate and determine premiums and terms; utilize tools; obtain approvals as needed; present proposals to agents / brokers; negotiate deals.
- Service accounts after winning the business in coordination with Liberty Account Analysts and Client Service Managers. Meet with insureds and uphold Liberty's value proposition.
- Manage portfolio of brokers / agents and clients. Build and maintain relationships with agents / brokers to market products, provide responsive service, conduct site visits and renewal meetings, and develop a long-term pipeline.
- Identify, manage, and solicit the pipeline of opportunities for individual success.
- Articulate key coverage differences with detail in Life Sciences.
- Maintain knowledge of laws, regulations, and regulatory considerations affecting Life Sciences underwriting.
- Share knowledge through external thought leadership.
- Mentor, coach, and train other underwriters and partners.
- Provide input to business and marketing planning with data-driven portfolio insights.
- Participate in projects to grow Liberty's Life Sciences Industry Practice and drive underwriting / process excellence.
- Collaborate across teams (Distribution, Operations, UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, North America Leadership).
Qualifications
Degree in Business, Risk Management, or Scientific Field or equivalent typically required.7+ years of progressive underwriting experience; 10+ years typical; Life Sciences underwriting experience preferred.5+ years of Life Sciences underwriting experience.CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.Strong analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks; advanced knowledge of insurance products, underwriting, pricing, risk assessment, and Life Sciences market dynamics.Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable Life Sciences business.Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly in written / oral form to internal / external stakeholders.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external partners.Ability to manage complex underwriting issues and design workflows to address them.About Us & Pay
