Job Purpose :

The Financial Analyst will apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare comprehensive financial reports and reconciliations.

This role involves managing accounting and reporting related to inventory, costing, and pricing of commercial products, as well as development and pipeline projects.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, demonstrates initiative, possesses excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and strong analytical abilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services to determine effects on costs.
  • Communicate financial data effectively, translating it into meaningful information that supports business decision-making.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare month-end adjusting and closing entries, account reconciliations, and year-to-date roll-forwards of activity.
  • Process corporate purchase orders and analyze vendor contracts and open purchasing activities.
  • Maintain accurate costing methodologies in both ERP and manual systems.
  • Ensure the accuracy of inventory valuation through maintaining a standard cost system, leading annual manufacturing cost standard updates, and analyzing variances to standard costs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to review open purchase orders, enabling accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end accruals.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts for all inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) accounts.
  • Interact with external auditors to ensure timely execution of audit activities.
  • Identify areas for process improvements, efficiencies, and establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process, including preparation of standard costs.
  • Collaborate with other finance team members to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Manage the purchasing function after an initial three to six-month period, which includes overseeing a Buyer.
  • Assist with special projects and research assignments as directed by the management team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience preparing monthly account reconciliations and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting for inventory, COGS, and variances with standard costs for internal reporting and financial audits.
  • Strong preference for ERP experience, particularly with Great Plains.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to effectively bridge communication between Finance, Supply Chain, and Commercial functions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong self-management and process improvement mindset.
  • Team-oriented with collaborative skills.
