Responsibilities

Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required / requested instruments and supply to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor / track instruments counts throughout procedures.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration :

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years

preceding 5 / 21 / 07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5 / 21 / 07 and completed by 5 / 21 / 10.

Education :

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree / Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
