38263BRRequisition ID : 38263BRBusiness Unit : FSUJob Description : CDM Smith’s Federal Services Unit (FSU) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Cost Estimator to serve our growing portfolio of design projects for the US government, both CONUS and OCONUS.

Primary responsibilities for this role include :

  • Prepare planning level cost estimates for CDM Smith’s DoD clients based on plan and specifications reviews
  • Ensures that enterprise estimating procedures are followed for all federal projects
  • Perform quantity take-offs and pricing of primarily federal construction projects
  • Perform constructability reviews and develop draft project schedules as needed
  • Support client presentations such as charrettes, design review meetings, and value engineering meetings

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 8 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and / or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.Preferred Qualifications :
  • 8 years of experience estimating horizontal and vertical projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or related discipline
  • Experience with programmatic and parametric estimating, estimating designs at various levels of completion, and estimating construction costs
  • Detailed experience with DoD parametric cost estimating software (PACES) and detailed estimating software (MCACES II)
  • Experience with commercial estimating software is desired (Sage Estimating, Accubid (for Electrical), Timberline as examples)
  • Ability and willingness to travel worldwide for project meetings at times
  • 5 years of experience estimating Depart of Defense projects (USACE, AFCEC and NAVFAC) and EPA experience is desirable
  • In addition to the US, experience estimating projects in the Far East (Japan, Korea, and Guam), Middle East, and Europe is desiredEEO Statement : We attract the best people in the industry, supporting their efforts to learn and grow.
