Position Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled IBM i (AS / 400) Systems Administrator to join our onsite team in Lake Mary, Florida . This role is critical in supporting the stability, security, and performance of our IBM i infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in IBM i administration, backups and restores, PTF management, system performance, and user support. This is an onsite-only role requiring hands-on server management and collaboration with internal IT and business teams.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Administer and maintain IBM i (AS / 400, iSeries) systems, including daily operations, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Manage PTF (Program Temporary Fix) application and OS upgrades.
  • Perform and monitor backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Manage user profiles, system security, and authority levels.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware / software issues.
  • Work with vendors and internal teams to resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Create and maintain documentation for system processes, changes, and configurations.
  • Provide support during business hours and participate in after-hours maintenance or on-call rotation as needed.
  • Support software deployment, batch job processing, and interface communication.

Qualifications :

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM i (AS / 400, iSeries) systems administration.
  • Strong knowledge of IBM i operating system architecture, CL programming, and system commands.
  • Experience with backup and recovery tools (BRMS preferred).
  • Familiarity with job scheduling, HA / DR systems, and storage management.
  • Experience in applying PTFs and OS upgrades.
  • Understanding of TCP / IP networking, printers, and security protocols within IBM i environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in an onsite environment.

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with PowerHA, MIMIX, or other HA / DR solutions.
  • Familiarity with DB2 for i and system monitoring tools.
  • Prior work with enterprise-level financial, healthcare, or manufacturing systems.
  • IBM Certification in IBM i System Administration (optional but preferred).
