The Regional Safety Specialist will support the Regional Safety Manager in assisting and supporting the regional sites in performing safety training, safety policy / program development and performing Safety Management Systems Audits at the direction of the Regional Safety Manager.
They will also work with sites that are struggling to meet company initiatives (e.g., Behavioral Based Safety) and ensure that they are compliant with state and / or federal OSHA standards and requirements.
In addition, this position will help support the department's AOS Safety SharePoint site and Contractor Safety Program. What You'll Do :
- Assists with the implementation of safety and health programs and processes by presenting training and completing audits
- Develops, implements, and coordinates safety and health policies and procedures to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, and the financial losses associated
- Reviews and evaluates various job activities and new processes for safety, health and environmental issues and makes recommendations to control or eliminate hazards
- Responds to and investigates reports of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions; reviews recommendations and / or takes appropriate action in order to mitigate potential safety and health risk
- Assists in the development and updating of safety metrics and tracking safety and program performance What You'll Need :
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Supply Chain, Operations or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience in Industrial Safety
- Demonstrated proficiency in understanding government regulation, safety and environmental compliance
- Strong overall computer skills required, (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, etc.)
- Must be able to travel up to 25%-35% of the time What Could Set You Apart :
- Must be comfortable working without direct supervision; and a demonstrated ability to secure resources cross functionally without daily oversight
- Strong organization and follow-through skills
- Certified OSHA 501 trainer is a plus
- Experience with transportation, warehouse or industrial refrigeration systems a plus
