Title : Accounting Manager

Reports To : CAO

Classification : Full-Time, Regular, Exempt

Normal Hours : Commonly an eight-hour shift scheduled between 8AM and 5PM, Monday-Friday

General Description (major areas of responsibility of this position) :

A person in this position oversees all aspects of accounting functions and is responsible for management / supervision of accounting professionals leading and directing work.

Oversees the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures.

Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Ensures that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.

A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Excellence is demonstrated consistently and process improvements are contributed.

Minimum Qualifications :

Formal Training (courses, degrees, and credentials required) :

Bachelor’s Degree Designation of CPA may be required

Experience (type and amount of experience required) :

Minimum 5 years in an Accounting Manager Role

System experience : Major ERP and intermediate excel experience required, NetSuite experience preferred

Experience working for a company with $500M in revenue or larger, private equity backed or publicly traded preferred

Proven experience developing process improvements, developing SOPs, and assessing processes

Distribution or related industry experience preferred

Job-Specific Responsibilities :

Processes timely, efficiently and accurately sales tax, gross receipts, bank reconciliations, journal entries and associated logs and reports.

Processes timely, efficiently and accurately all check uploads into bank and any deposit discrepancies and associated logs and reports.

Interacts with divisional managers on matters dealing with scrap checks and P&L issues.

Processes timely, efficiently and accurately banking logs and reports.

Provides expeditious response to upper management inquiries regarding P&L status.

Performs reconciliation of bank accounts and processes any adjustments to properly reconcile them.

Prepares payroll journals, vehicle journals and any other re-class journals.

Manages conflict or differences effectively, while maintaining staff-centric etiquette.

Directs and coordinates activities of workers.

Continually audits department processes, systems and technology for means of improvement to speed, quality and cost savings.

Ensures staff is properly trained in the various accounting practices and procedures, and establishes work standards and schedules to ensure effective implementation.

Plans and schedules meetings or appointments, organizes hard copy and electronic files, conducts research and manages projects.

Creates spreadsheets, presentations, documents and reports.

Processes timely, efficient and accurate order processing logs and sales reports.
