DNP-Nurse Anesthesia Program

The School of Nursing at UT Health San Antonio invites doctoral prepared nurses to apply for faculty positions to provide teaching in the BSN to DNP- Nurse Anesthesia program.

Qualified applicants with clinical experiences as a CRNA, and academic teaching experience, may apply for an academic faculty role with the School of Nursing.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimal Requirements

Education

  • A PhD, DNAP, DNP or appropriate doctoral degree.
  • A master’s degree in nursing anesthesia (CRNA) is required.

Certification / Licensure

  • A Texas RN license is required.
  • Current certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetist (NBCRNA)
  • A Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license is required.
  • Active membership in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

Experience

  • CRNA in a clinical role for a minimum of years
  • Administrative and / or leadership experience for a minimum of years
  • Academic experience, to include didactic and clinical teaching experience.

Essential Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the DNP-NA Program Director and the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies the Assistant Director will be responsible for :

  • Assist in designing, implementing, and revising the curriculum for the DNP-NA program, ensuring it meets accreditation standards and reflects current best practices.
  • Provide classroom and clinical instruction.
  • Provide academic and professional guidance to students. Offer support and resources to help students succeed in the program.
  • Participate in ongoing evaluation and assessment of the DNP-NA program, including student learning outcomes, program effectiveness and compliance with accreditation standards.

Implement improvements based on assessment data.

  • Collaborate with the admissions team to recruit qualified candidates for the program. Represent the program at recruitment events, conferences, and professional meetings.
  • Foster partnerships with healthcare organizations for collaboration, clinical practice, and quality improvement projects.
  • Support DNP-NA faculty in their teaching roles by providing resources, training, and mentorship. Assist in faculty recruitment.
  • Stay abreast of developments in nurse anesthesia education and accreditation standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accreditation standards, regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Assist the Program Director in administrative tasks such as resource management, scheduling, and program marketing.
  • If required, assume the responsibilities of the Program Director
  • Other duties as assigned.

Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options :

Front-loaded Paid Time Off : to hours ( to days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year.

PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.

Extended Illness Bank : hours ( day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.

Paid Family Leave : Up to hours ( weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after months of consecutive employment.

Holidays : set paid holidays each year plus three floating holidays, which can be used anytime during the fiscal year.
