Akkodis currently has a Network Engineer position with a client located in Upstate, NY. No C2C or agencies allowed with this position.

Rate Range : $52.00 / hour to $57.00 / hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Summary

Network Engineer supports the design, implementation, and security of enterprise network infrastructure in compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Defense Industrial Base (DIB) requirements. This role ensures that all network operations protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and meet Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 and NIST 800-171 standards. This role will play a key role in maintaining high availability and resilience of mission-critical systems while defending against advanced cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless solutions in alignment with DFARS 252.204-7012, NIST 800-171, and CMMC Level 2 requirements.
• Support secure interconnections with U.S. Government networks, ensuring compliance with Information System Agreements (ISAs).
• Develop redundancy, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations strategies.
• Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and secure tunneling protocols.
• Implement Zero Trust and network segmentation for CUI environments.
• Monitor traffic for anomalies and provide advanced troubleshooting for escalated incidents.
• Manage hybrid and cloud networking for Microsoft 365 GCC-High and Azure Government environments.
• Support secure remote access solutions, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and encrypted VPNs.
• Evaluate and integrate SD-WAN and next-generation networking technologies.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, inventories, and access control documentation.
• Support audit preparation and provide evidence for CMMC, DFARS, and NIST assessments.
• Partner with the Cybersecurity team to address Plan of Action Milestones (POAM) items.
