JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

a leading public research University, is seeking applications for the position of Associate Vice President and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs for the Commonwealth Campuses .

Penn State’s Commonwealth campuses serve a diverse student population of , and employ more than 7, full and part-time employees, including 2, faculty.

The Associate Vice President and Senior Associate Dean reports directly to the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses and Executive Chancellor (VPEC) and is a senior member of the VPEC’s leadership team.

The successful candidate will provide leadership in academic affairs at the geographically distributed Commonwealth campuses.

Primary duties include the development, approval, and review of new academic programs. This position will also provide leadership for academic market research;

statewide continuing education; and academic programs shared among multiple campuses, and inter-institutional articulations.

In addition, this position will oversee college academic authority and related accreditation; academic services and records for associate, baccalaureate and certificate programs;

and academic programming offered through inter-campus collaboration, outreach and on-line delivery. The position will liaise with central University offices, councils, and the Faculty Senate on matters of curricular affairs, and with academic leaders across the Commonwealth campuses.

Candidates must have an earned terminal degree with a minimum of seven years of leadership experience in academic administration;

a record of excellence in teaching and research; and a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, and to quality academic programming leading to student success.

Other essential skills include a broad knowledge of major issues within higher education and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a complex academic organization.

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are also essential.
