Job Description :
As an Electrical Engineer, you will :
- Create designs specific to low and medium voltage electrical switchgear assemblies / systems, replacement breakers, and related equipment.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders (mechanical engineers, production, purchasing, vendors, etc.) to develop complete drawings, submittals, and BOM packages that meet customer, manufacturing, regulatory, and project requirements.
- Work with the QA and Testing group to develop and review testing plans.
- Follow and develop standard design processes and documentation to improve quality and efficiency in engineering design.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of collaboration.
- Make changes and corrections in electrical design throughout the product's lifecycle.
- Support other departments such as project management, production, and sales.
- Maintain detailed and organized documentation, and work closely with the production team to resolve issues quickly.
Skills and Qualifications :
Minimal Required Skills :
- 3-5 years of design experience in switchgear control circuit electrical design or related fields.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
- A 4-year bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and an EIT (Engineering in Training) certificate.
- Ability to work on assignments with minimal guidance and to navigate challenging situations and tasks by collaborating with key stakeholders and peers.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work with teams of various technical backgrounds.
Preferred Skills :
- 8+ years of design experience in switchgear control circuit electrical design or related fields.
- Experience in the design of electrical switchgear in compliance with UL891 and UL1558 standards.
- Experience with REVIT and Inventor software.
- Knowledge and experience in generator and automation controls, specifically PLC / HMI systems, including Rockwell / Siemens and Woodward.
- A PE license in power systems and controls is preferred or demonstrated ability to acquire one.
Compensation :
This is a full-time, exempt position. The compensation package will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
