Description :

Pregnant Moms plays a critical role in delivering individualized, comprehensive services to expectant families enrolled in the Early Head Start (EHS) program. This position ensures prenatal education, family support, health, and community resource connections are provided in alignment with the Head Start Program Performance Standards. In addition, this position will support the Early Head Start center as a floater and Family Advocate, assisting with classroom support, transitions, and family engagement services.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Home Visiting (Expectant Families)
  • Provide weekly 90-minute home visits to pregnant women enrolled in the EHS program using approved curricula.
  • Promote positive prenatal health, birthing preparation, and postpartum support including breastfeeding, nutrition, and mental health wellness.
  • Ensure timely screenings, assessments, and follow-up as required by HSPPS.
  • Partner with each family to develop and monitor individualized Family Partnership Agreements (FPA).
  • Support families in accessing health, dental, mental health, and social services.
  • Collaborate with health professionals to assist families in birth planning and transition of newborns into EHS.

2. Family Engagement and Advocacy

  • Serve as a liaison between families and community resources to help meet goals outlined in FPAs.
  • Facilitate parent education and family involvement activities.
  • Assist with center recruitment and enrollment efforts.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in child / family files and data systems (e.g., ChildPlus)
  • 3. Floater Support Duties

  • Provide classroom assistance as needed to maintain ratio or during staff absences.
  • Support transitions and meal / snack routines within the infant / toddler classrooms.
  • Assist with center-based parent engagement activities and events.
  • Perform general program support tasks such as health checks, documentation, and preparing learning materials.
  • Requirements :

    Qualifications and Requirements :

  • A minimum of a Home-Based CDA credential or equivalent coursework as defined in HSPPS §1302.91(e)(6).
  • Preference given to candidates with an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
  • Knowledge of prenatal development and infant care.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Other Requirements :
  • Must pass background checks and pre-employment screenings.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Must be willing to travel locally for home visits and trainings.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in environments with children ages 0–3 years.
  • Experience :

    At least one year of experience in early childhood or family support settings, preferably working with pregnant women, infants, or toddlers.

    Physical & Environmental Requirements :

    This position is housed in a licensed Early Head Start Center and involves work in both an office and classroom setting, as well as in family homes. Frequent movement, driving, and interactions with families with children from birth to age 3 are required.
