Project / Position Overview : The work includes, but is not limited to : Fort Sumter : Demolishing and replacing the dock meeting ABA compliance, provide NPS and Concessionaire loading / unloading operations, providing empty conduit, shore power, convenience power, site lighting, access control, and hose bibs, removing existing park identity signage on land and constructing new signage on the dock, and incorporating new interpretive panels on the dock.
Fort Moultrie : Demolishing and replacing the dock meeting ABA compliance, provide loading / unloading operations on a pierhead and floating dock systems, fishing access, providing empty conduit, shore power, convenience power, site lighting, access control, and hose bibs, removing and installing new concrete pad and benches at the dock entry.
Liberty Square : removal and replacement of pedestrian loading ramp and platform, select pierhead repairs, removal and replacement of select guardrail panels, providing empty conduit, side mounted utilities, shore power, convenience power, site lighting protected in place, access control, hose bibs, and added sub-meter.
Responsibilities and Duties : Provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction. Arrange, attend and facilitate a variety of meetings, including weekly meetings at the project site.
Document issues encountered and problems experienced with the construction contractor. Review contractor's baseline and progress schedules.
Draft project related correspondence for NPS to review and issuance. Inspect the work of the construction contractor for progress, workmanship, quality and conformance with contract documents, applicable building codes and safety standards.
Deliver reports, reviews, evaluations, design work, etc. to CO. Review and process Construction Contractor's RFIs and assist in resolution, draft response, tracking, and follow up.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills : Education leading to Construction Management Degree or equivalent. 5+ years Construction Management Experience.
Minimum of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training required. Experience providing similar services for similar projects.
Knowledge of and experience with construction practices including maritime / tidal work such as pier and dock rehabilitation and replacement, site grading, working in sensitive natural and cultural resource locations.
Experience working in coastal / tidal wetland areas. Experience working on sites with environmental conditions such as large storms.
Knowledge and experience with construction practices including applicable building codes, applicable safety regulations.
Knowledge of cost estimating with breakdown of labor, materials and equipment costs for proposed construction contract modifications.
Ability to read and interpret plans, schedules, and other specifications. Experience working on sites with active visitation and operations.
Prior experience with resource protection measures required by government agencies to avoid and minimize construction related adverse impacts to natural and cultural resources.
Minimum of 5 years' experience with the three phases of onsite control. Written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills Average agility and dexterity.
Knowledge of software including Microsoft Project, Word and Excel . Maintain a valid driver's license. Qualified applicant must be able to pass a background check.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
