Overview

Sutphen Corporation is the oldest continuously family-owned and operated fire truck manufacturer in the United States. With a mission to build the safest, most reliable fire trucks in the world, Sutphen has manufactured emergency fire apparatus for fire departments all over the country for more than 135 years. Sutphen is seeking an electrical engineering technician to join our growing team in Dublin, Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • In this role, you will play a key part in the electrical layout and design of custom fire apparatus, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and NFPA standards.
  • Create precise electrical system documentation and CAD drawings, and troubleshoot production issues to support manufacturing goals.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Sales Engineers, and Production Personnel to interpret design requirements, determine detail required, and coordinate design with other designers.
  • Self-check designs and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues that come up during production and drive quick resolution.
  • Maintain working knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and NFPA 1901 standards.

Qualifications

  • Display interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional team members; excellent organizational and communication skills with strong attention to detail; ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with 2D CAD software (AutoCAD, Draftsight, etc.).
  • Experience with electrical layout of fire apparatus or similar systems is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge NFPA 70, NFPA 79, NFPA 1901.
  • Ability to produce accurate electrical system documentation for manufacturing use.
