Electrical Design Engineer III-Nuclear
Our clients Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department is the Design Authority for six nuclear sites. CDE is responsible for the execution of a fleet portfolio that includes design solutions supporting risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization.
Nuclear Plant Corporate Design Electrical Engineering team manages the capital engineering change (EC) portfolio at the nuclear site.
The team collaborates with other CDE and cross functional plant staff to ensure that high quality design solutions are delivered to meet site needs and milestone requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop the scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for engineering design changes, which include but are not limited to AC power systems, DC power systems, Large AC motors, Transformers, Switchgear, Motor Control Centers, Voltage Regulators, Breakers, etc.
- Research engineering and design issues, evaluates alternatives, determines and presents recommendations to resolve issues.
- Provide ongoing support of assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities.
- Develop or revise design specifications or technical requirements documents to support engineering design changes.
- Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes.
- Develop safety screens and evaluations that support engineering design changes.
- Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes.
Requesting an Electrical Design Engineer with Electrical and / or Instrumentation & Control (I&C) experience for the Brunswick Nuclear Plant in Southport, NC.
The individual will perform engineering work for electrical and I&C projects within the engineering organization. Some engineering work may also include digital and software focused items.
Current qualification at a nuclear utility as a Modification Engineer under an INPO Accredited Program and knowledge of Consolidated Asset Suite for design and work order reviews is highly desirable.
Experience in Operations department is considered a desirable trait as well. Individual will be required to obtain qualifications for a Modification Engineer and Design Verification Engineer prior to working independently.
Selected individual will act as the Lead Technical and / or Responsible Engineer for assigned projects and in a support capacity on other projects.
