Summary :

Employment and Community Direct Support Professional (DSP) are responsible for a variety of duties related to supporting the individual with a developmental disability or brain injury to be successful in employment and / or community participation.

Essential Functions :

• Provides individualized support to the individual to learn employment related skills and maintain employment.
• Provides coaching and feedback in the areas of grooming, communication, interviewing, and behavior as they relate to successful employment.
• Assists individual to access and engage in social, community participation activities.
• Supports individual to achieve the goals outlined in their individual service agreement or behavior plan.
• Communicates with the Program Manager any changes impacting the individual's employment including changes in wages and hours.
• Communicates with the Program Manager any concerns impacting the individual's well-being, injury, illness or changes in emotional and / or physical status.
• Provides transportation to employment and community activities.
• Accurately documents all program data, including but not limited to : daily notes, incident reports, progress notes, mileage reimbursement forms, etc in a timely manner.
• Follows safety protocols to foster a safe working environment.
• Reports unsafe conditions, environment and equipment to the Program Manager.
• Adheres to all relevant regulations, policies and procedures.
• Provides medication administration if the individual is unable to administer their own medications. This is determined
• Maintains individual's confidentiality.
• Recognizes and acts on the legal responsibilities concerning the safety and welfare of the individual.

Education / Experience

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Ideal candidate has one to two years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Required to complete all MDS's assigned trainings within the first 6 months of employment and on a annual basis.
