Job Details
beds : 24 beds.
- BLS, ACLS certifications are necessary.
- Ratios : ICU - 1 : 2 or 1 : 1 according to acuity. IMCU - Days 1 : 3, Nights 1 : 4.
- Charge Nurse present, but attempts to not take patient assignments.
- Nurse Aides available : 1 Nurses' Aide per 8 patients.
- Common diagnoses / Types of patients include CVA TPA, AAA, MI, Hypertension, Overdose, ETOH, Detoxing Precedex, Whipples, GI bleed, ECOS, External temporary pacers, A-fib RVR, Septic shock.
Job Requirements
- BLS, ACLS certifications required.
- Must be able to read and interpret monitoring strips.
- Experience with high acuity patients including homeless, substance abuse, and mental health patients.
- Ability to titrate all drips as needed.
- Familiarity with the use of avea vents and experience with patient care requiring Bipap.
Schedule Information
- EMR knowledge is required. Cerner in use, converting to Epic by Feb 2020.
- 12-hour shifts starting at 7 AM.
- Weekend requirement : Every other weekend.
- Holiday duty : Every other holiday.
- Shifts based around ICU or IMCU with the potential of floating to telemetry or IMCU. Floating could be a 1 : 5 ratio.
- Two shifts of floor-specific orientation provided.
Unit Specific Information
- ICU / IMCU Unit involvement.
- Scrub Color : Caribbean blue. Black and white shirts may be worn under the uniform, but the top layer must be the uniform color.
Pants may be black or Caribbean blue.
- Tele / Monitor Techs available as all rooms have Phillips IntelliVue; however, Nurses must still be able to read and interpret strips.
- AVs (avea vents) are based out of ICU, IMCU supports Bipap.
Additional Details
- Must be a strong team player, flexible, and empathetic.
- Need strong customer service skills and compassion.
- Will be dealing with very high acuity homeless, substance abuse, and mental health patients.
- Expect very difficult patient cases.
