The Assistant Project Manager Reports directly to the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager. This is a client-facing role that requires the ability to build relationships both in and out of the office.
The core responsibility of an Assistant Project Manager is to learn through on-the-job experience, peer-to-peer engagement, and technical training.
The Assistant Project Manager is phase 3 of 3 on the path to becoming a Project Manager with one of the largest electrical technology companies in the country.
Essential Job Functions
This is a list of the most prominent duties and responsibilities.
- Assist in estimating project scope and costs
- Manage projects with subcontractors
- Communicate with clients and subcontractors
- Attend and actively participate in project coordination and owner / contractor / architect / engineer meetings as requested or required.
- Research and preparation of change requests to resolve design issues for approval
- Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences, and errors / omissions
- Monitor field work and / or contract work to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications, and codes.
- Assist with the submittal process.
- Assist in the tracking and completion of billing.
Education & Experience
REQUIRED
- Electrical contracting assistant project management experience preferred
- A College degree, journeyman’s license, or master electrician’s license
- Understanding of electrical installations
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
PREFERRED :
- Electrical contracting assistant project management experience
- A good understanding of how to read electrical
- Familiar with computer-based estimating
- Knowledge of billing and collections
