As a member of the division leadership team, the Chief Nursing Officer Acute Care Division, assesses the status of nursing practice, conducts quality improvement activities, integrates clinical services, and reviews operating budgets and allocation of staff, resources and facilities.

  • Assumes responsibility for creating and implementing a strategic plan for Nursing that optimizes patient care and quality outcomes, drives productivity, and helps to accomplish business goals across the Division.
  • Plans, implements and evaluates clinical programs and services to ensure consistency with current research, professional and regulatory standards, and the company’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Partners with the Chief Medical Officer of the Acute Care Division, Risk Management, and Quality to drive improvements in clinical quality and safety of care and ensure continual regulatory readiness throughout the division.
  • Works collaboratively with HR to develop an orientation and onboarding program for nursing and ancillary staff which ensures adequate education and maximizes safety and quality of care.
  • Creates nursing development and nursing leadership development programs to ensure growth and opportunity for the nursing staff.
  • Must possess demonstrated success in providing effective nursing leadership in large, complex organizations with multiple locations / sites spread over a broad geographical area.
  • A background in assessing, designing and implementing broad-based processes with a focus on improving quality, operational and financial infrastructures is essential.
  • Minimally 8 years of executive level nursing experience in a combination of clinical and operational leadership roles within an acute care setting is expected along with a BSN, a valid RN license and a Master’s degree in business, nursing or a related area.
  • Travel required - 50%+.

Qualifications

  • Operationalizes a Nursing Leadership Practicum for all levels of Nursing Personnel.
  • Develops and assesses systems, processes and care standards to define professional Nursing practice to support safe, fiscally sound patient care delivery.
  • Strengthens Nursing Practice to enhance the provision of accessible, timely, efficient, cost effective care by identifying priorities, monitoring and improving outcomes.
  • Works with facility leaders to recruit and retain a qualified Nursing workforce. Reviews educational and workforce development strategies designed to support recruitment and retention.
  • Identifies, develops and enhances partnerships between Nursing’s internal customers and external organizations.
  • Identifies, researches and measures key indicators to support evidence-based Nursing Practice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned / required.
