By State law, all positions that work with children require all three CHILD CLEARANCES be obtained prior to the first day of work.
You should allow 4-6 weeks to obtain all clearances. If you work for at least one month, we will reimburse for the cost of the clearances ($60.

REPORTS TO : GROUP LESSON COORDINATOR
FLSA STATUS : NON-EXEMPT
NATURE OF WORK
Assists staff Teaching Professionals in conducting Learn-to-Skate classes centered around developing a love of skating.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists with teaching skaters in Learn-to-Skate classes via lesson plans provided by the Recreation Department and coach.
- Aid in fitting skates and prepares students before they begin lessons.
- Supervises class activities and daily operations.
- Ensures students are properly dressed and prepared for classes.
- Provides verbal communication and queuing skills.
- Provides friendly customer service and welcomes skaters and parents.
- Attends all necessary program meetings and trainings.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs all other work as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Clear understanding of good basic Learn to Skate principles.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to interact with students in a class and / or one-on-one setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of properly fitting skates.
- Interpersonal skills.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Experienced skating skills
- Complete Learn to Skate USA Compliance Certification Course within the first 60 days of date of hire.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Hearing, seeing (close up and distance), skating, standing, sitting, climbing, bending, shouting, hand movements, holding, lifting (20+ lbs.
waving arms, running, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, grasping, and feeling.
- Concentration on ice surface and rink areas. Appropriate decision-making pertaining to proper behavior relative to facility and class rules.
- Ability to tolerate cold temperatures.
