Candidates will be joining a robust and collaborative team of highly trained clinicians and teachers with expertise in special education, school counseling, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and classroom and behavior management.

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) will provide direct speech and language services within a private special education school setting, under the supervision of a certified and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who meets the necessary qualifications to be a supervisor.

Supervision will be provided as outlined in the CT Department of Education guidelines. The SLPA will follow the scope of duties defined by the CT Department of Education for support personnel in speech-language pathology.

In addition to direct treatment, the SLPA will collaborate with the SLP(s) to create lesson plans, devise treatment strategies, assist with documentation and programming, and develop learning supports individualized to each student's needs.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders
  • Completion of a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Certificate program or Post-secondary coursework and equivalent training and experience as outlined by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
  • Prior experience working with autism and other complex medical diagnoses is required.
  • Familiar with the IEP process and the collection of progress monitoring data
  • Create and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that accounts for students social, emotional, and executive functioning need
  • Commitment to helping children of all abilities reach their full potential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, enthusiastic style to fit with our small-team environment
