Assess global water resources using remote sensing and global models.

This position is located at the J.J. Pickle Research Center in North Austin.

Responsibilities

  • Work with remote sensing data and analysis.
  • Work with global models.
  • Document and present results in regular meetings and professional society meetings.
  • Develop proposals for Federal agencies such as NASA or USAID.

Required Qualifications

PhD (or equivalent international degree) in Civil Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences, Applied Math, Statistics, or related engineering field required by the start date.

PhD must have been received within three years from the date of hire.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong data science skills and demonstrated research experience in assessing global remote sensing and global hydrologic models.

Research skills and interests in processing and downscaling climate model outputs and satellite datasets. Familiarity with data analytics.

Self-motivated and strong problem-solving skills

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

Occasional weekend, overtime, and evening work to meet deadlines.

Retirement Plan Eligibility :

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
