The Setnor School of Music within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach Oboe Lessons to Music Majors and Non-Music Majors during the Fall and Spring Semesters, -25.
Private instruction in classical performance techniques, including styles, music reading, pedagogy, and small and large ensemble performance skills.

- A minimum of a master’s degree in music or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience teaching studio oboe at the collegiate level.
- Professional performance credentials.
Job Specific Qualifications The candidate should have strong attention to detail, knowledge of course content, demonstrated pedagogical ability, as well as the ability to relate well in a classroom and one-on-one environment with college-level students.
Preference will be given to applicants who are able to fulfill multiple positions within the Setnor School of Music. Responsibilities
- Being present and instructing weekly lessons during Fall and Spring semesters.
- Set up lesson schedule.
- Collaborate to build and maintain the oboe studio.
- Develop and / or update a class syllabus.
- Prepare student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
- Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meet all designated class periods.
- If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute.
- You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
- Participate in end-of-semester juries.
- Participate in fall / spring audition days, including review of on-line music audition materials for assigned prospective students.
- Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to university regulations.
- Grade student assignments and exams in timely manner.
- Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Build a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
- Support student performances at music events where possible.
