Overview

Senior Data Engineer will develop, guide design & efforts of new serverless solutions that seamlessly integrate the back-end processing within our Enterprise Systems. To be effective, the applicant must have an in-depth knowledge of design in modern programming languages & web technologies, backend infrastructure & databases, and AWS cloud services. This candidate will need to be strong in procedure conversion, python and SQL scripting, data pipeline build out / optimization and come from a big data engineering background.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and guide serverless data solutions that integrate with enterprise systems.
  • Convert procedures and implement Python and SQL scripting to build and optimize data pipelines.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines, ensure reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Monitor data pipelines and infrastructure for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Transform database code and lead migrations (e.g., Oracle to Postgres) as needed.
  • Collaborate with teammates, Product Managers, SMEs, and cross-functional teams; mentor and guide team members.
  • Implement data security best practices including encryption, IAM policies, and access controls.
  • Participate in development lifecycle activities : CI / CD, DevOps practices, unit & integration testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of AWS experience, including :
  • Redshift
  • Aurora Postgres
  • 7+ years of SQL database management, including :
  • Performance tuning
  • Stored procedures
  • Technologies : Aurora Postgres, Oracle, Redshift
  • 5+ years troubleshooting and resolving SQL issues
  • 5+ years with modern database technologies and application development, including :
  • AWS
  • Python
  • AWS Lambda
  • CloudWatch
  • 3+ years of AWS Serverless experience, including :
  • PySpark
  • AWS Glue
  • Step Functions
  • DynamoDB
  • 5+ years of data integration experience from various sources (APIs, databases, streaming platforms) into centralized enterprise applications, data lakes, or warehouses
  • 2+ years of experience in :
  • Cloud Security
  • DevOps
  • Containers
  • Scalable data storage solutions using AWS S3
  • Data storage retrieval, performance, and cost optimization
  • Monitoring data pipelines and infrastructure for performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Advanced skills in data security best practices, including :
  • Encryption
  • IAM policies
  • Access controls
  • Development life cycle phases
  • CI / CD
  • DevOps
  • Unit & integration testing
  • Documentation
  • Solution delivery in cloud systems

    • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hybrid work capability in Nashville (typically 3 days / week in-office, subject to business needs)
  • Experience transforming database code, especially Oracle to Postgres
  • Soft Skills & Collaboration
  • Strong collaboration with team members, Product Managers, SMEs, and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to translate requirements into functional software using standardized coding practices

    The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $75.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
