The Technology Services Department (TS) of the City and County of Denver use state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies to deliver and improve the systems, applications, and operations to our customers.

What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $125,000.
00 - $145,000.00 / year, based on education and experience. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which includes but is not limited to :
- A guaranteed life-long monthly pension, once vested after 5 years of service

- 132 hours of PTO earned within first year + 11 paid holidays, 1 personal holiday and 1 volunteer day per year

Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed.
Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
What You’ll Do
In Technology Services, our mission is to improve city performance through four basic strategies : reliability, innovation, access, and partnership.
In this Network Architect role, you will manage, maintain, and upgrade all City and County of Denver network equipment, ensuring reliability and access for our customers.
Responsibilities
In this Network Architect position, you will :
- Act as technical lead and as a network architect subject matter expert.
- Support the Cisco core network switching and routing
- Perform Cisco IOS Upgrades including limited troubleshooting on core network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot the most complex core networking issues.
- Design new core network infrastructure
- Upgrade core network infrastructure up to two times per year
- Work closely with City and County of Denver enterprise architects
- Work closely and partner with the city’s Cisco VAR Value Added Reseller on network and security related projects, managed services engagements, and Cisco equipment quotes.
- Consult and collaborate with internal Tech Services Teams and city agencies to identify requirements and provide network solutions following best practice and departmental standards to meet user needs.
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with Tech Services peers, Enterprise Architects, internal and external customers, including vendors.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to junior team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for someone with some or all the following skills and experience :
- Have extensive experience with network infrastructure architecture and design.
- CCNP / ENCOR Active Certification Preferred
- Have experience with each : Cisco ACICisco ASA, FMC, FTDCisco MerakiNexus & NX-OSNetwork Monitoring including SNMPv3 and NetflowWireless Bridge TechnologiesJuniper Mist Wireless InfrastructureSecurity encryption : MACsec, IPsec, and FlexVPNF5 Load Balancer LTMCisco networking infrastructure, including routers, switches, access points, wireless controllers, industrial lines, datacenter infrastructure.
Amazon Web Services (AWS)Microsoft Teams InfrastructureNetBrainEquipment Lifecycle planning and management
Three (3) years current professional experience as a network Engineer / Architect including : Expertise in Architecture and troubleshooting Cloud Solutions such as AWS, Azure, or GCPProficiency in configuring / maintaining Cisco switching and routing.
Proficiency in Cisco switching, routing, and security.Understanding of Python and Ansible Scripting for use in network automation
- Strong knowledge in L2 / 3 switching and routing protocols, including : BGP, and OSPFMPLS VPNsOverlay networks OTV, VXLANTCP / IPResiliency and redundancy protocols BFD, VRRP, GLBP, HSRPSpanning TreeQoS
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with : Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, and OutlookTicketing and Change Management systems (ServiceNow)
Minimum Qualifications
- Education requirement : Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience Requirement : Three (3) years of professional information technology experience installing, maintaining, and / or modifying operating system and / or network operating system software and associated hardware.
Two of these years must include experience in designing and implementing enterprise level systems and scalable solutions.
- Education / Experience Equivalency : One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
- Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
- License / Certifications : Must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance within the probationary period.
