WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Construction Manager will be based at the Abbott Nutrition Sturgis, MI facility and will be responsible for supporting / managing construction projects including facility, utilities, and equipment projects.

The candidate will be expected to work with a cross-functional project team including the project stakeholder(s) and contractors.

Candidate is well versed in construction management practices including safety, quality, change management, scheduling, estimating, daily construction oversite, drawing redlines / as-builts, and change control.

This role will support the site in the execution of key CAPEX projects. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively and be willing to address project challenges head on.

  • Maintain a safe working environment during construction activities.
  • Support identifying and managing project stakeholder dependencies and construction deliverables.
  • Lead daily contractor meeting.
  • Facilitate decision making to drive scope and schedule
  • Leverage past experiences to provide options and recommendations for solutions.
  • Communication with project engineering regularly to provide construction status updates, challenges / issues, change orders, etc.
  • Act as a single point of contact for project contractors.
  • Support the development, management, and reporting on project safety, scope, and schedule.
  • Manage construction punchlists and track lessons learned
  • Provide construction deliverables to project engineering team
  • Support project closure

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required

  • 10+ years’ experience in Construction Management preferably in a food / beverage or pharmaceutical setting
  • Knowledge of contract management, client relations, Basis of Design, and construction plans / specifications
  • Ability to read and understand drawing packages.
  • Experience supporting multiple capital projects

Preferred

  • Professional Construction Manager Certification (CCM) and / or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management
  • OSHA 30hr or equivalent
  • First Aid / CPR certification
