Director of Nursing
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the nursing and clinical staff and overall clinical operations of the ambulatory surgical center.
Duties include evaluating and directing all clinical employees, establishing goals, creating and enforcing compliant healthcare policies, The Director of Nursing is also responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.
This includes but is not limited to scheduling of procedures, inventory control, QA / QI, staff credentialing, preventative maintenance and safety, risk management and all related supporting services of the ASC and its personnel.
Must have outpatient surgery or ambulatory surgery experience
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in NJ
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Three to five years of supervisory capacity with demonstrated leadership ability. Experience in an ambulatory surgery center environment preferred.
- Excellent decision-making and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to perform effectively in a variety of stressful situations in the peri-operative setting.
- Provides leadership and oversight to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and facility policies and procedures
- Demonstrates respect for co-workers & leadership and develops positive working relationships within departments.
- Communicates with courtesy when interacting with patients, physicians, surgical schedulers, vendors and the public in person, on the telephone, or by email.
- Analyzes and correlates clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care.
- Provides direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency throughout the clinical areas of the facility
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards
- Manages department budgets
- Collaborates regularly with the Administrator
- Manages patients’ data and medical records as confidential records
- Recruiting, training and onboarding new nursing staff
- Provides ongoing education and implementing new procedures
