Purpose :
Works under the direction of the Nurse Manager and under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse or delegated Licensed Practical Nurse to provide patient care within their scope of practice as approved by the NC Board of Nursing and facility policy.
The patient care activities are individualized for each patient population. The CNA II can perform a variety of basic patient care activities and is responsible for completing department specific tasks to assist with optimal patient care, department safety and functioning.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
- Provides basic patient care within established guidelines. Assists professional staff with patient care under direct supervision of a Professional Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Documents appropriate and pertinent information in the patient care record.
- Performs patient intake per department standard to include obtaining vital signs, patient weight and other pertinent information.
- Monitors EHR track board for patient arrival. Proactively engages in patient throughput by keeping rooms cleaned and ready for next patient, proactively rooms patients, sets up for and assists with exam.
- Communicates effectively with team members to ensure patient / clinic flow is being maintained.
- Prepares patient for and assists with examinations.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
- Maintains stock of supplies and inventory.
- Performs moderate or waived point of care testing per CLIA guidelines.
- Performs clerical duties as assigned.
- Maintains patient flow and throughput.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required :
- Education : High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Licensure / Certifications : Maintain current status on the Nurse Adie I and Nurse Aide II registry.
- BCLS certification
