Sr Business Systems Analyst

Job Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to support all finance data governance and management functions. This person will need a passion for data and hands-on experience leading large-scale data management implementation, programming, and change management in this space.

As an individual contributor, this person will engage with process owners and business data stewards across finance organizations and collaborate closely with our technology partners.

This individual must demonstrate good business sense, understanding of finance business processes, project management skills, communication skills, making data-driven recommendations, and be an independent thinker and a collaborative team player.

Ability to communicate clearly, work effectively with diverse groups, use quantitative / qualitative analytical methodologies and tools, and quickly research, understand, and document new processes and requirements are foundational needs for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, management of information systems, or a similar STEM degree with 5+ years of hands-on working experience in data management and / or data governance.
• OR Master's degree in computer science, data science, management of information systems, or a similar STEM degree with 3+ years of hands-on working experience in data management and / or data governance.
• Strong understanding of the Finance data ecosystem and technology landscape, finance functions, and business processes that produce or consume finance data assets and products, including existing challenges and best practices for large public companies.
• Hands-on experience in data risk management and data control implementation under SOX, BCBS 239, ISO 8000 series, DAMA DMBOK, IRS 7216, GDPR, CCPA / CPRA.
• Proficient in technical data skills and hands-on technology experiences : data programming languages such as SQL, Python, data lake and data mart such as AWS S3 and Redshift, data governance tools such as AWS QuickSight, BI tools such as QlikSense and Tableau, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tell stories and present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong team player with energy, enthusiasm, and detail orientation to produce high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Deeply understand our client's finance data stakeholders, data needs, data ecosystem, tech stack and data products, data management practices, and applicable international and financial service sector-specific data compliance, controls, and risk management requirements (e.

g., SOX controls and report validation, IRS 7216, GDPR, CCPA / CPRA).

• Support business process owners in meeting data compliance requirements, including developing data control statements and requirements, designing and operationalizing data control activities, continuous issue monitoring, and remediation.
• Collaborate closely with process owners, data stewards, and tech partners to implement and operationalize finance data governance principles and framework :
• Define, implement, enforce, and monitor finance data governance policies and standard operating procedures, such as data cataloging, metadata lifecycle management, data access governance, and data quality and issue management.
• Provide hands-on observations, maturity assessment, and program roadmap development for all Finance data management areas.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance data management and operations to meet regulatory requirements and industry-leading practices.
• Support finance data request governance intake and request lifecycle management.
• Support data governance metrics and analytical reporting.
• Support finance's data literacy program, including developing a finance data knowledge base, developing training content, conducting communication outreach, and raising awareness.
• Support finance data stakeholders such as data consumers and partners with a customer-focused approach.
• Support finance data strategy projects initiatives with data technical expertise and project management leadership.
