The job

Senior Product Designer works closely with product management and engineering leadership to create the future vision and strategy of the Buildertrend product.

They are accountable for the overall design of the product including Buildertends design system and the interaction design patterns that define the experience for our users.

They play a pivotal role in hiring and developing talent, and ensuring their people reach their highest potential through coaching and personal and professional development.

They are effective leaders who push convention and drive change while focusing on building teams and process for high impact results.

Your Role As a Senior Product Designer at Buildertrend, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our product.

What You Will Do :

• Collaborate and Innovate : Work closely with your design lead and product partner to help define and execute on user needs and desired product outcomes.
• End-to-End Work : Work end-to-end by identifying opportunities, establishing the vision, and working with engineering to deliver high quality, robust solutions.
• User-Centric Design : Work to deeply understand user problems and develop strong rationale for design decisions and articulate your perspective.
• Iterative Improvement : Track live product changes, gather user feedback, and iteratively enhance the user experience based on data and insights.
• Communication and Collaboration : Leverage your strong communication skills to build and maintain relationships across teams, ensuring that design solutions are aligned with business goals and technical constraints.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Product Designer at Buildertrend, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

• Collaborate with Product Partners : Work closely with product management, developers, SMEs, Stakeholders, etc. to create effective solutions.
• Orchestrate Knowledge : Utilize existing knowledge and user research with BT customers to inform design decisions and strategies.
• Investigate User Challenges : Identify and address gaps in our understanding of user challenges through data analytics and user research.
• Create Value : Develop design solutions that address user needs and contribute to desired product outcomes.
• Validate Solutions : Use prototyping and other research activities to validate design solutions.
• Deliver Impact : Consistently produce high-quality design work that meets project objectives and enhances the user experience.
• Build Relationships : Proactively engage with stakeholders and business leaders to gather input, share progress, and drive projects forward.
• Mentor and Coach : Provide guidance and mentorship to Associate Product Designers and Midlevel Product Designers

Who You Are and What You Need

• BA / BS Degree in Graphic Design, HCI, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of relevant work experience in UX, product, or web design
• Experience mentoring or managing designers
• Strong portfolio / case studies showcasing your approach to solving a variety of complicated design problems using creativity, critical thinking, and fluency in best practices of user-centered design
• Experience designing web and mobile applications
• Proficiency with Adobe CS (including XD), Sketch, Figma or other design tools
• Experience in user research techniques including user interviews and usability testing
• Ability to effectively communicate research results and design decisions
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment
• Experience with a variety of UX design deliverables including : rapid prototypes, user stories, concept sketches, storyboards, information architecture, interaction design, interface (UI) design, visual design, and infographics
