Do you have experience with facility electrical operations,repairs and preventive maintenance activities?

If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking an Electrician to assist with maintaining, inspecting, testing, altering, and repairing building wiring systems, distribution equipment, back-up power systems, electrical components (lighting and lighting controls, power monitoring equipment, electronic controls, frequency drives, motors, generators, and building automation).

As an APL Electrician you will ...

  • Ensure the operational safety of electrical distribution systems.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC requirements. Consult wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and operations manuals. Typically, carry out assignments under minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot, identify, diagnose and repair faulty / overloaded / malfunctioning electrical wiring and or over current protection devices in building electrical distribution and lighting systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair controls for electro-mechanical systems (i.e., motor controls, contactors, relays / coils, refrigeration units, chillers, gas-fired and electric boilers, industrial equipment and machinery) using OEM documentation and hand-held test equipment.
  • Test motors, repair / rewire motor controls, test and repair variable frequency drive units and soft starts. Troubleshoot and repair 120V and 277V lighting circuits, replace lamps, ballasts, receptacles, switches, fuses, and circuit breakers.
  • Operate, troubleshoot and repair emergency generators and associated automatic transfer switches.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you ...

  • Have the skills and knowledge normally associated with completion of a formal training curriculum and 4 years' experience at the journeyman level;
  • Have knowledge of DC and AC circuits, motors, motor controls, generators, distribution systems, and power monitoring systems;
  • Have the ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment; Have a working knowledge of National Electrical Code;
  • Arc Flash protection (NFPA 70E);
  • Have experiencereading blueprints, sketches, diagrams; the ability to interpret oral instructions to install required work andindependently work in both routine and emergency situations;
  • Possess effective communications skills, both verbal and written;
  • Are a capable user of personal computers;
  • Possess a valid driver's license and will be subject to a driving record evaluation;
  • Are able to work dayshift, Monday through Friday, with possible overtime and emergency call-ins,
  • Will wearsafety shoes, safety glasses, and other personal protective and safety equipment andwork outsidein inclement weather conditions;
  • Are able to climb / work off ladders and scaffolding, in confined spaces, and at heights (roofs, antennas, etc.),lift / carry 50 lbs;
  • Will operate APL vehicles and industrial equipment and assist other trades as directed.
