- Nurses are expected to follow AWHONN ratios, 1 to 2 if caring for a magnesium patient.- Utilizes Cerner, fetal link, and McRoberts mychild for electronic medical records and infant tracking.
- Charge nurse available on each shift.- OB Techs serve as Nurse Aides.- Weekend requirement is 3 shifts every 4 weeks.- Holiday work varies may be every other holiday.
- Hospital provides scrub color.- No telemetry or ventilation equipment is present in the unit.- OB specialists are on-site 24 / 7, anesthesia available on-call 24 / 7.
- The unit requires nurses to have strong IV skills, with a respiratory therapist and pharmacy available 24 / 7.- No call is required, but there will be opportunities.
- Shifts start at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., with nurses expected to be dressed, ready, and obtain report at the start.- Floating may be required to the postpartum area.
- Floor-specific orientation includes 3 shifts.- Common diagnoses include antepartum patients (e.g., those on magnesium treatment).
- A satellite NICU, level 2, is physically located in the hospital and attends deliveries as needed.- Emphasizes baby-friendly experiences and hourly rounds.
- Nurses perform bedside reports and documentation; circumcisions are not performed here.- Comfort in working with diverse patient populations is important.
- Hospital may cancel shifts up to 3 times per contract; each cancellation may be a full or partial shift.
