• Experience performing data discovery, analysis, modeling, and transformation.
• Experience with data warehouse analysis and specification development (e.g. Oracle DB, Snowflake and discovery / governance platforms, MS Purview, or equivalent).

• Understanding of document / file and knowledge management.
• Understanding of University operations related to research, teaching and learning, outreach, and administration.
• Experience working with data and software engineers.

• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple projects independently to meet deadlines and complete tasks in an accurate manner.

Summary

Conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost / benefit analyses to align information technology (IT) solutions with business initiatives.

Prepares functional, system, and program specifications. Performs complex activities with latitude to apply skills to solve problems without review and devises methods to perform assignments.

Regularly performs long-term or non-routine assignments with minimal supervisory intervention, seeking assistance when significant deviations are proposed or unprecedented problems arise.

Job Responsibilities

• 10% - Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.
• 15% - Devises or modifies complex information systems including analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary.
• 5% - Determines and recommends programs required for optimal problem solution within cost / performance objectives.
• 10% - Participates in requirements planning and feasibility determination.
• 5% - Performs analyses and prepares reports to ensure that programs meet or exceed schedule commitments.
• 20% - Works on tasks including project or functional requirements, functional design, functional configuration, testing, and documentation.
• 5% - Trains, serves as a resource, and provides guidance to other IT business analysts on non-routine problems, processes, and policies.
• 5% - Assists senior staff in developing strategic approaches to problem-solving and anticipating issues.
• 5% - May work with external vendors or service providers.
• May lead cross-functional project teams and may manage portions of the project life cycle, including requirements gathering, functional design, functional configuration, testing, and documentation.

Requirements

Top Skills (3) & Years of Experience :

• 4 to 7 yrs experience with performing data discovery, analysis, modeling, and transformation.
• Experience with data warehouse analysis and specification development (e.g. Oracle DB, Snowflake and discovery / governance platforms, MS Purview, or equivalent).

Nice to Have :

• Ability to create reports, dashboards, and visualizations to help others understand business performance.
• Understanding of University operations related to research, teaching and learning, outreach, and administration.
• Examples of functional work group : data warehouse teams, other business analysts, services teams who are doing data integrations.
