Position Overview :
The Audiovisual (AV) Field Service Technician - Level 3 is responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex audio, video, and control system issues at client sites.
This role requires advanced knowledge of AV systems, networking, and control programming, along with a strong background in electronics and AV best practices.
Key qualities for success include attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to commission high-quality AV installations.
Requirements :
- Associate degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- AVIXA CTS required; must achieve CompTIA Network+ certification within two years.
- 6+ years in technical AV / IT support or field engineering.
- Proficient with Windows, Apple software, color-balancing displays, AV control systems, and programming languages (Crestron, Extron, AMX, Python, HTML, C#Pro).
- Advanced configuration of TCP / IP networks.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, navigating customer sites, and working in diverse environments (hot, humid, cold).
- Strong communication, organizational skills, and customer service orientation.
- Ability to work varied hours, including occasional weekends.
Responsibilities :
- Diagnose and resolve audio, video, and control system issues with precision and high-quality standards.
- Configure, adjust, and troubleshoot video and audio-conferencing systems, DSPs, and audiovisual equipment.
- Retrieve, load, and troubleshoot control system code from leading AV manufacturers, ensuring seamless functionality.
- Repair and replace cables, connectors, and system components as needed.
- De-install and install various AV system components, devices, and equipment.
- Provide written documentation of service status and follow up on unresolved issues for optimal client satisfaction.
- Serve as a backup Onsite Support Technician when necessary, ensuring continuous client support.
- Lead training sessions for entry-level Service Technicians, sharing industry knowledge and practical skills.
- Load, test, and edit control code and graphical user interface files with remote support as required.
- Accurately mark up field documentation, maintaining and archiving all job-related configuration files, touch panel layouts, and programs.
- Provide system training to clients, enabling them to maximize the value of their AV systems.
- Offer technical support and mentorship to other Service Technicians, promoting team skill development.
- Participate in performance reviews, interviews, and developmental planning to support the team’s growth.
- Lead training and mentoring for new hires and trainees as assigned by management.
