The cashier provides fast and friendly service to customers, assists them with questions and requests. Operates a cash register and the duties which correspond. Package product, work with drive-up and / or carry-out. Replenishes product as needed.

The cashier reports to the district store director, store manager, assistant managers of GM, perishabls, and store operations, and service managers.

Primary duties and responsibilities include providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, smiling and greeting customers in a friendly manner, assisting customers, operating cash register accurately, redeeming promotional coupons, food stamps, WIC checks, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include assisting store management, knowing code dates on perishable items, changing register tape and ribbons, and performing other job related duties and special projects.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include the ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions, do arithmetic calculations, understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, and write identifying information.

Education and experience requirements are not specified.

Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. The position is frequently exposed to temperature extremes, possible dampness, and possible equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and exposure to chemicals and solvents. This is a fast paced work environment.

Equipment used to perform the job includes pallet jack, box cutter, cash registers, trash compactor, fork lift, calculator, telephone, intercom, cardboard compactor, copier, and fax.
