Job Summary :
The Clinician II- integrated behavioral health therapist will provide thorough clinical assessment and clinical counseling / psychotherapy to individuals presenting for behavioral health / addiction treatment needs within primary and specialty care practices.
The Clinician II will foster the advancement of the profession and promote the advancement of their own clinical skills and expertise by maintaining requirements of licensure.
The Clinician II will function as an independent and collaborative consultant to the practices.
Essential Job Responsibilities :
Provides direct service to patients.
- Coordinates care for caseload at contracted level. Contributes to the achievement of performance volume goals
- Maintains cancel / no show rate within established goal.
- Provides individual, group, conjoint, family therapy at assigned level.
- Performs contracted supplemental direct service duties as part of specialized function.
- Manages assessments to effective engagement or other disposition.
Provides high quality clinical care.
- Obtains and assesses thorough clinical information at intake, formulates accurate diagnostic impressions and appropriate initial treatment goals.
- Engages patients in treatment, develops and maintains therapeutic relationships.
- Implements and monitors the individualized treatment plan and the patient's progress.
- Reviews and reassesses treatment plan and effectiveness, involving the patient and other disciplines and supervisor in the treatment planning process.
- Demonstrates flexibility in clinical approach to case needs.
- Effectively performs therapeutic interventions, approaches, modalities to facilitate attainment of patient goals / patient improvement;
demonstrates skills / knowledge to competently work with patients ages to 18 to geriatric.
- Demonstrates keen clinical observational skills and good clinical judgment.
- Responds in a timely way to changes in the patient's condition and takes appropriate emergency actions.
- Manages patient's care throughout treatment with regard to needs from outside services and / or family.
Maintains all records and documentation according to policy and procedure
Demonstrates quality in documentation, reflecting depth of understanding of patient and effectiveness utilization of treatment approaches (individualized, pt-involved, focused tx objectives;
problem oriented charting).
All clinical documentation is in keeping with policy and procedure. Thoroughly documents all patient contacts and services on the same day.
Maintains other program maintenance activities on a timely basis
- Maintains ongoing program activities related to smooth program management; takes initiative and leadership in resolving operating problems.
- Demonstrates organizational skills that foster completion of routine commitments / assigned tasks on a timely basis, while managing priority of patient care.
- Participates actively in team, program meetings, taking leadership roles when assigned.
- Assumes responsibility for projects, assignments or joins work groups designed to improve programs or meet goals; independently keeps supervisor informed of status / progress.
- Manages length of stay and financial issues related to the patient's care.
- Conducts work in keeping with BH and department policies and procedures.
Participates and contributes to program development
- Participates in ongoing and scheduled review and of program; proposes and evaluates solutions to identified problems and assists in implementation.
- Contributes to and develops new program components; takes leadership role in promoting program goals and objectives.
- Provides consultation and education activities on voluntary or assigned basis at contracted level.
Pursues own professional development.
- Demonstrates achievement toward stated annual goals of professional / work plan.
- Maintains / expands professional skills by attending external educational opportunities.
- Attends and participates in BH staff development programs; assesses with supervisors strengthsand weaknesses, develops and follows through on plans to meet learning needs.
Qualifications
Educational / Minimum Requirements :
Master's Degree in Mental Health field such as MSW, MFT, MA or MS
Job Related Experience Requirements :
Minimum two years of clinical work in a behavioral health setting. Experience in integrated models of care recommended.
State / Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements :
Licensed in Connecticut to provide clinical services (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LADC)
Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements :
General orientation at time of hire. Fire / Safety / Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Hospital.
Special Requirements :
Perform assessments and perform psychotherapy in following modalities : individual, conjoint, family, group. Educational presentations.
Physical Requirements :
This position requires frequent walking, standing, and sitting. Occasional physical requirements involve bending, stooping, stair climbing, kneeling, light lifting and looking at computer monitor.
Activities such as climbing ladders, crouching, balancing, reaching, and twisting are limited. Vision and hearing should be corrected to the normal range.
Work Environment :
Normal office environment with regular travel between integrated behavioral health location. Involves high interaction with patients and staff in a stressful, psychiatric milieu.
Requires knowledge in the use of office equipment and proficient computer skills.
Cognitive Requirements :
Excellent comprehension and communication, written and verbal skills; able to organize, synthesize and utilize data. Requires highly developed abilities to assess, analyze and interpret complex information from patients to be formulated into a theoretical framework for the patients' treatment.
