What we want

The Research Scientist, under general supervision, is responsible for conducting lab experiments, analyzing, and communicating data in the form of primary research articles, and aiding in grant writing.

This role assists in supervising and mentoring undergraduate students.

Salary : Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience :

Appropriate PhD

Six years of relevant professional experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Supervisory skills

Preferred Education and Experience :

PhD or M.D

Neuroscience lab experience

Work experience in vitro models

Experience in data collection, analysis

Grant writing experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to plan and organize effectively

Responsibilities : Experiments

Experiments

Designs, performs, and analyzes experiments consistent with project objectives.

Conducts independent research aligned with the TAMUS member’s mission.

Develops procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy of data collection and analyses.

Data collection and analysis

Keeps detailed records of procedures and data.

Identifies, assimilates, and synthesizes data needed for computer models and manages databases relating to statistical and related software.

Maintains expertise with the latest hardware and software technologies for statistical and numerical data analyses.

Manuscript and Grant Preparation

Prepares data for publication and presentation.

Writes grants and proposals to acquire external funding.

Keeps up-to-date on scientific research via reading of literature, etc.

Attends scientific meetings and seminars for research enhancement.

Validates strategic decision-aid models.

Lab Management

Assisting with lab maintenance

Mentors students on analyzing and preparing data results.

Coordinates laboratory activities.

Maintains laboratory instrumentation and follows applicable safety standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.
