Summary
The Production Quality Control Technician under the direction of the Production Quality Control Manager, will conduct inspections of products at various stages in the manufacturing cycle.
To ensure that all manufactured products meet and / or exceed quality standards set by our customer, the Production Quality Control Technician will compile and evaluate data to assess the quality and reliability of products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Spend 75% to 80% of time on the floor assessing / reviewing operators to ensure SOP’s are being followed, identify opportunities for improvement and communicate with production leadership team findings.
- Overlap with counterparts to ensure good transition of info from shift to shift.
- Maintain inspection reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and control plans Gathers, data, info, pictures, and all other information and submit to Quality Manager for development of SOP’s.
- Ensure compliance to federal and state laws, as well as company standards and specifications
- Perform inspections across all stages of production
- Prepare and maintain quality data for review Gathers Quality data / info for review with Quality and Production Managers.
- Evaluate data and draft reports, noting any relevant deviations from existing standards, and initiating corrective and preventive actions When identifying deviations from existing standards per SOP, involve quality and production managers for corrective and preventive actions.
- Identify areas for quality control improvement and implement new methods accordingly
- Communicate quality or compliance concerns with urgency
- Support the hands-on containment, sorting, and disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Participate in RMA review of items with Quality Manager to determine disposition.
- Participate in quality review mtgs and give input on findings, results, and opportunities.
- Responsible for communicating with the Quality Managers, Engineers, Operators and / or Operations Managers regarding quality problems or concerns
- Provide training on SOPs to production shift supervisors / leads and conduct audits on operators' adherence to SOPs.
- Perform hands-on inspections, training, research, and problem solving
- Work in conjunction with production to develop QC standards and procedures.
- Resolve any quality issues utilizing lean tools (fishbone diagram, A3,5 WHYs, etc.)
- Review all complaints received from customers with the quality and production teams (all shifts) to determine corrective actions
- Perform weekly / monthly layer process audits and submit findings to Quality Manager
Education and / or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; 2-year degree desired
- Solid understanding of quality principles, lean six sigma
- Willing to work 75% hands-on QC production support, and 25% office documentation processing
- Minimum of 1-3 years of related experience in quality control, audits, and inspections in a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of various mathematical concepts including fractions, ratios, and proportions
- Ability to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information, detailed oriented and self-driven
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
- Must be able to make decisions independently and confidently
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
