BASIC FUNCTION :
Work closely with a cohort of students as they matriculate from middle school to higher grade levels, graduation and one-year postsecondary.
Assist in planning, organizing, coordinating and implementing activities and services involved in facilitating, enhancing, and improving graduation rates, postsecondary college and career readiness and family engagement.
Perform a variety of duties in support of the PreK-12 College and Career Readiness Manager and College and Career Readiness GEAR UP Fort Wayne Coordinator.
Implement programs and interventions to help meet the needs of FWCS students and families and provide support to educational programs and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Any combination equivalent to : bachelor’s degree and five years or more in middle or high school academic planning preferred.
Experience providing college prep services academic planning. One year of general clerical experience and college degree preferred.
Experience with school counseling a plus. Must have strong office, computer, technology, public relation and oral and written communication skills.
Must have knowledge of the technical aspects, methods, processes, principles, practices, procedures and terminology used in assigned field.
Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Work in collaboration with GEAR UP staff and others to conduct individual, and group discussions, presentations, workshops, programs and activities regarding college and career readiness.
- Develop, implement and monitor parent workshops and academies.
- Collaborate with community youth organizations to ensure academic alignment and college and career activities are implemented.
- Collaborate with College and Career Readiness team to plan and develop Summer College and Career Experiential Programs for students.
- Provide personalized college and career counseling to students and families at assigned schools.
- Assist identified students and families with developing and meeting postsecondary college and career goals. Implement intervention programming, workshops and activities to ensure students are prepared for postsecondary success.
Provide college and career readiness workshops at assigned schools.
Connect students with curricular programs and interventions based on achievement data.
Consistently promote participation in College Ready and Career Ready activities that ensure students are prepared to pursue postsecondary learning and succeed in high-demand careers.
Assist students with identifying postsecondary education and career interests.
Assist PreK-12 College and Career Readiness Coordinator and College and Career Readiness GEAR UP Fort Wayne Coordinator with college visits and career visits.
Coordinate with guidance coordinator and guidance counselor to monitor academic outcomes and participation in activities.
Initiate, monitor and update annual College and Career Action Plans and Graduation Portfolios to track student performance, outcomes and GEAR UP participation.
Perform related duties as assigned by the PreK-12 College and Career Readiness Manager and College and Career Readiness GEAR UP Coordinator to meet the particular needs of the department.
