Description :
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Oncology Registered Nurse to join our team at John H. Stroger Junior Hospital of Cook County .
As an Oncology RN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to cancer patients undergoing treatment in our clinic.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Administer Chemotherapy : Utilizing your expertise and training, you will be responsible for safely and accurately administering chemotherapy treatments to patients according to established protocols.
All nurses must hold current ONS Chemotherapy Provider Cards and be proficient in chemotherapy administration.
2. Patient Care : Provide comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients, including assessment, monitoring, and education.
You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
3. Support and Education : Offer emotional support and educational resources to patients and their families throughout the treatment process.
As an advocate for patients, you will empower them to participate actively in their care and make informed decisions about treatment options.
4. Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting all aspects of patient care and treatment administration.
Ensure timely and thorough reporting of any adverse reactions or changes in patient status to the healthcare team.
5. Compliance and Safety : Adhere to all regulatory standards, policies, and procedures related to chemotherapy administration, infection control, and patient safety.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay current with best practices in oncology nursing.
Qualifications :
- Valid RN license through state or compact.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in oncology nursing.
- Current ONS Chemotherapy Provider Card.
- BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
