Job Description
The EKG technician assumes responsibility and accountability for performing electrocardiograms on customers ranging in age from infant to the aged.
The EKG technician is responsible for processing EKGs performed by the Cardiovascular Laboratory and other departments in the hospital.
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described within. Performs OP venipunctures, heel sticks, and finger sticks to obtain blood samples for testing purposes.
Properly identifies patients and follows procedures for collection of specimens. Prepares patients, position patients for the procedure, set-up the devices, and connect patients to any necessary diagnosing and monitoring equipment.
operate diagnosing systems and carry out any non-medical procedure that may be necessary for the diagnosis.
Education :
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Basic computer skills
Experience :
- Previous EKG experience is desired but not required.
- Completion of a formal training course in phlebotomy procedures from an accredited
- Must possess communication / writing / interpersonal skills
Licenses / Certificates :
Current CPR certification or obtained during the first week of employment.
