Job Description

As a Maternal-Fetal Medicine sub-specialist, your clinical responsibilities will consist primarily of seeing high risk OB / GYN patients in an outpatient setting, reading and performing ultrasounds, supervising genetic counseling, and performing appropriate MFM surgical and invasive procedures.

In addition, you will provide admission, discharge, and rounding on inpatients on the obstetrics (including labor and delivery) service.

You will also be responsible for providing consultative services for OB / GYN patients for a wide variety of referring physicians from MUSC and throughout South Carolina.

You will provide the above services Monday through Friday at the Prenatal Wellness Center or our outreach clinics. In addition, you will be expected to take MFM and OB / GYN call when assigned or as needed by the Department.

You may also be responsible for traveling to other parts of South Carolina to perform MFM services for contracts for your division.

About the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Sub-Specialists Division

All inpatient care is delivered on our main campus in downtown Charleston, with obstetrical care housed in our new state-of-the-art facility, the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and the Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion.

MUSC Children’s Hospital is consistently ranked among & World Report’s list of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals, and is the only quaternary academic medical center in the state of South Carolina.

The new MUSC Children’s Pediatric Subspecialty R. Keith Summey Medical Pavilion offers comprehensive outpatient pediatric-only services, including specialty clinics, outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, infusion procedures, and support services such as lab and pharmacy.

The new Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion that opened in February of 2020 offers a neonatal intensive care unit with over 80 licensed beds, the most comprehensive pediatric heart center in the state, an interventional program for non-cardiac surgical procedures, and an entire floor dedicated to the care of children with cancer.

These state-of-the-art facilities are transforming how care is delivered to women and children, seamlessly integrating children’s care with obstetrical services.
