WORK Inc. is looking for an energetic, creative, compassionate individual to join our Family Support Services team! Adult Companions assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to participate in meaningful and fun community-based activities that enhance independence, social inclusion, and community integration.
Mostly Weekends and Evenings.
Qualification / Education / Experience :
- High School Diploma or equivalent, related experience in working with people with disabilities is a plus.
- Maintain First Aid and CPR certification (classes provided).
- Acceptable CORI / National Criminal Background Check (NCBC), DPPC Database, and Driving Record.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to adapt to changing situations and needs.
- Effectively creating community activities that are diverse, inclusive, and fun that provide a wide range of opportunities for social skills for people with disabilities.
- Ability to communicate with families and caregivers of participants to provide updates on progress and discuss any concerns.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment where all participants feel comfortable and welcome. This may include adapting activities as needed to meet the needs of participants.
- Provide emotional support to adults with disabilities, including active listening, empathy, and companionship.
- Must possess good and positive interpersonal skills within the family environment.
- Must be able to work weekends (or evenings).
